Job Summary:
The Swimming Pool Store Technician is responsible for providing on-site technical support, pool maintenance services, and repair work for customers’ pools and spas. The technician will also assist with troubleshooting equipment issues, performing water quality tests, installing and servicing pool and spa equipment, and offering advice on the best products and practices for maintaining pool and spa systems. This role requires a combination of hands-on technical skills and customer service expertise. The technician will also assist in deliveries of pool equipment and hot tubs.
Key Responsibilities:
Pool and Spa Equipment Installation & Repair:
Install and repair pool and spa equipment, including pumps, filters, heaters, chlorinators, and pool cleaning systems.
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with pool and spa equipment, offering solutions for repair or replacement.
Pool Water Testing & Maintenance:
Test pool water for chemical levels (e.g., pH, chlorine, alkalinity) and advise customers on necessary treatments or adjustments.
Perform chemical balancing, ensuring pools are properly treated with the appropriate chemicals for safe swimming conditions.
Provide customers with pool and spa care advice, including seasonal maintenance and water treatment tips.
Customer Support & Service:
Interact with customers in a professional and friendly manner, addressing their pool-related concerns and inquiries.
Offer expert guidance on pool and spa maintenance routines, troubleshooting equipment, and selecting the right pool chemicals and accessories.
Provide on-site consultations to evaluate pool and spa systems, equipment needs, and potential issues.
Explain the proper use and maintenance of pool equipment and accessories to customers.
Inventory and Product Knowledge:
Recommend appropriate pool and spa products, chemicals, and equipment based on the customer’s needs and the condition of their pool.
Assist with product inventory, including tracking stock levels and informing the store manager of items that need to be reordered.
Stay informed about new pool and spa technologies, products, and industry trends to provide customers with up-to-date information.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate records of service visits, including customer information, services rendered, and equipment used.
Complete service orders, report any issues, and ensure timely follow-up with customers as needed.
Assist with scheduling service appointments and ensuring proper communication with customers regarding service dates and requirements.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow safety protocols when handling pool chemicals, tools, and equipment to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and others.
Ensure that all pool installations and repairs meet relevant health and safety standards and local regulations.
Keep up with industry regulations and standards to maintain a high level of safety and service quality.
Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with other store associates and technicians to ensure efficient service delivery.
Communicate any issues or challenges with service delivery to the store or service manager to resolve them in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; further technical certifications related to pool maintenance and repair preferred.
Previous experience in pool maintenance, equipment installation, or repair is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of pool and spa systems, pumps, filters, heaters, and chemical treatment processes.
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose and repair pool equipment.
Valid driver’s license to perform on-site service calls in a company vehicle.
Reliable transportation is required to come to and from the shop.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls or tasks effectively.
Strong communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
Basic computer skills for service record-keeping and inventory management.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools (up to 50 lbs or more).
Ability to stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods while working on pools, spas or equipment.
Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions (e.g., hot sun, rain, etc.).
Work Environment:
The Swimming Pool Store Technician works both in-store and on-site at customer locations, which may include residential and commercial pools. The position requires traveling to different sites, working outdoors, and handling a range of pool and spa maintenance tasks. The technician will also interact with customers, providing on-site advice and recommendations for pool care and equipment needs.

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
