The Taco Sheeter is responsible for operating machinery to ensure the continuous making of tortillas that meet the required specifications through the production process. This role involves monitoring and adjusting machine settings, maintaining a safe work environment, and adhering to company policies and procedures. The position requires attention to detail and effective communication with team members to ensure product quality.
Responsibilities:
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
- Operate machinery to ensure continuous product flow through the production process.
- Monitor and adjust machine settings as needed.
- Notify supervisor of any maintenance requirements for machines.
- Follow all production schedules and procedures.
- Adhere to plant GMP, HACCP, and Safety policies.
- Fill out all cooking documentation correctly.
- Complete RedZone checks as needed
- Document all lot numbers, cook times, and temperatures.
- Monitor the grinding of corn into masa and transfer to the sheeter.
- Ensure the tortillas that meet required specifications.
- Notify supervisor of any observed problems or issues.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area by keeping debris off the floor.
- Wear safety equipment and follow GMPs.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, communicate.
- The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds repetitively.
- Must be able to stand on concrete floors for 10 hours.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is exposed to wet, cold and or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and requires that hearing protection be worn in production areas at all times.
