Staff Accountant Job Description
Duties:
1. Prepare and/or review income tax returns for individuals, business and trusts
2. Be responsible for filing extensions and meeting tax filing deadlines
3. Manage tax engagements including client contact, delegating and assigning work to staff
4. Train and supervise accounting staff
5. Conduct tax research as needed
6. Resolve tax issues with state and federal agencies
7. Be involved in consulting, tax planning and long term planning for clients
8. Prepare and/or review compiled and reviewed financial statements, including adjusting entries
9. Provide consultation and support as needed in other functions such as sales tax, payroll, bookkeeping, administrative
Skills:
1. Software: QuickBooks, Spreadsheet, Word processing
2. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
3. Accounting: Knowledge of accounting concepts including adjusting entries and financial statement presentation
4. Tax: Knowledge of current tax rules and procedures for individual, business, and trust taxation
5. Teamwork: Ability to work as part of a team, give and receive feedback, share knowledge and resources with other team members
6. Professionalism: Professional approach to work such as attention to detail, organization, initiative, thoroughness, attitude of continual learning and improvement
7. Client Relationships: Ability to communicate with clients and develop a long-term relationship based on trust and mutual respect
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
