Internal
Reporting to the Vice President, Tax, this position will lead the tax function at Liberty Latin America’s Liberty Networks (“LN”) and Cable & Wireless Communications (“CWC”) operations. This position will have responsibility for all local country tax reporting; income tax accounting for all audited financial statements and related disclosures; tax audit defense; driving cash tax savings and ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership acumen, deep technical and analytical skills, strong organizational and communication skills, and excellent attention to detail. In this role, you will need to be a self-starter who is skillful in analyzing complex tax issues and collaborating with cross-functional business partners with varying backgrounds and levels of experience.
A successful candidate will be able to manage complex workflows that involve multiple stakeholders and build strong relationships within Tax and across the company.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership role within Liberty Latin America’s global tax function.
- Management of our external tax compliance providers to ensure all income tax, indirect tax and other local tax filing requirements are met.
- Management and review of the quarterly and year-end tax provision calculations.
- Ownership of all income tax balances on the financial statements, including, but not limited to, income statement, balance sheet, statement of cash flows, and all other tax disclosures required under US GAAP.
- Responsible for tax audits and determining areas of tax exposure to manage the associated risks, keeping executive management appraised of the liabilities.
- Process improvement activities to streamline and improve the overall effectiveness of the tax function at LN and CWC.
- Identification, research and implementation of tax planning strategies.
- Ensure compliance with, and documentation of, all internal control obligations under SOX 404.
- Train, mentor and develop members of the tax department.
- Special projects as directed by VP, Tax – LLA.
- BA or equivalent 4-year college degree, with an accounting major, and potentially an emphasis in tax.
- Licensed as a Certified Public Accountant.
- 10+ years industry experience and/or public accounting, specifically in corporate tax.

- Strong leadership skills
- Fluent in Spanish & English (required)
- Experience resolving complex tax issues
- Significant experience reviewing income tax provisions
- Significant experience on indirect tax compliance
- Experience with OneSource Income Tax software is preferred, but not required.
- Experience working with LATAM and Caribbean countries.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a complex, demanding and dynamic environment.
- Strong written, oral, and analytical skills with an attention for detail and an ability to interpret data and concisely articulate technical information.
- Energetic with a strong work ethic and high personal standard of ethical conduct.
