VDA Inc. is looking for Teachers, Teacher's Assistants, and Substitute Teachers in Kern County. Pay and Benefits range from position title, full-time and part-time, and experience of candidate.
Objectives: To administer classroom curriculum as stipulated by the Site Supervisor and assist in instructional supervision of students.
Immediate Supervisor: Site Supervisor
General Responsibilities: (depending on the position title)
- Administers phases of the program, with respect to educational, social, and health needs of the children.
- Assists with planning curriculum
- Plans and prepares classroom materials
- Develops skills in methods of teaching and as skills gained take more responsibility in the implementation of classroom curriculum.
- Makes continued effort in professional growth by attending all in-service training meetings.
- Promotes active parent involvement
- Confers with appropriate staff members prior to intervention in any potentially stressful situation with families.
- Adheres to early childhood education philosophy with respect to teaching techniques.
- Participates in daily teaching team conference to discuss individual children and plan for the next day.
- Performs minor custodial functions as required
- Performs other duties assigned by the Site Supervisor/Teacher/or his or her designee.
Minimum Qualifications:
Teachers:
- A valid Child Development Teacher Permit issued by the commission on Teacher Credential.
- Two years of working experience in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Physical Examination and TB Clearance.
- Proof of Immunizations: Influenza, Pertussis, and Measles or medical waiver as per Health and Safety code 1596.7995 effective Sept. 1, 2016.
- Background Check (fingerprint clearance)
- Signed statement of acknowledging requirement to report suspected child abuse.
- Professional demeanor that establishes a desirable example for children.
Teacher's Assistant and Substitute Teacher's Assistant:
- Must possess a High School Diploma or GED
- Must have one (1) or more years of relevant work experience with preschool or school age children.
- Completion of six (6) ECE units required within one (1) year of employment and six (6) units by the end of the second (2) year of employment required by the Child Development Permit Matrix.
- Physical Examination and TB Clearance.
- Proof of Immunizations: Influenza, Pertussis, and Measles or medical waiver as per Health and Safety code 1596.7995 effective Sept. 1, 2016.
- Background Check (fingerprint clearance)
- Signed statement of acknowledging requirement to report suspected child abuse.
- Professional demeanor that establishes a desirable example for children.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing for extended periods of time, kneeling, bending, pushing or pulling, sitting and ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Speaking and hearing to exchange information.
