Your journey starts now—innovate and excel with ManTech!ManTech seeks a motivated, career-focused, and customer-oriented Technical Lead, Shared Application Services to join an on-site team in either: Falls Church, VA, San Antonio, TX, Aurora, CO, or Tacoma, WA.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead the technical team responsible for the design, development, and sustainment of a Modular Enterprise Platform – a set of containerized, microservices-based APIs, SDKs, and shared backend services supporting both mobile and web applications across the Military Health System (MHS) and its global user base.
Oversee container orchestration and registration (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECR, etc.) to enable rapid, secure, and compliant software delivery of both Web and Mobile applications.
Collaborate closely with application development teams (mobile and web) to ensure that shared services meet functional, performance, and security requirements.
Serve as a hands-on technical lead who can directly mentor engineers, review and write production-quality code, and guide implementation based on real-world experience delivering modular shared services at scale – not just conceptual architecture.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives for platform scalability, reliability, and maintainability through monitoring, automation, and DevSecOps best practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
7+ years of progressive experience as a software developer and technical architect, with at least 2+ years as a technical team lead focused on shared services, APIs, and backend systems supporting a mix of mobile and web software teams/projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
Proficiency in at least two of the following modern programming languages: C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or Java – with production-level experience building backend services, APIs, or platform SDKs.
Strong understanding of both relational (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cosmos DB) database technologies, including data modeling and integration into service architectures.
Familiarity with legacy frameworks such as ASP.NET (Web Forms and MVC), ColdFusion, or classic SharePoint customization, with demonstrated modernization and migration experience.
Expertise in microservices architecture, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Windows Containers, Azure Kubernetes Service, etc), and cloud-native application development.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps toolchains in secure or highly-regulated environments.
Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, SDK design, messaging protocols, and backend integration patterns.
Familiarity with DoD or federal cybersecurity standards (RMF, STIG, IL4/IL5, HIPAA).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting Defense Health Agency (DHA), MHS, Veterans Administration (VA), or other federal health agencies.
Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or similar.
Prior experience working with user bases exceeding 10,000, preferably in contexts involving operational healthcare, clinical training, or readiness systems.
Clearance Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Physical Requirements:
Office work, typically sedentary with some movement around the office.
Ability to travel (car or air) and present at conferences or meetings.
The projected compensation range for this position is $132,400.00-$205,300.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
