The Technical Sales Specialist organizes and implements technical services, product training and marketing operations for the Business Unit (BU). This role involves identifying new business opportunities, developing action plans for both new and existing products and services and collaborating with Helena Products Groups (HPG) Brand Managers, Strategic Account Managers (SAMs) and other HPG leaders to market our products effectively.
Additionally, this position provides planning and input for sales-related trials connected to research and development activities, working closely with the Business Unit and HPG Research and Development teams. The Technical Sales Specialist is the central link between the field and HPG providing technical sales expertise based on practical, real world and field results.
- Candidate Must Reside in Pacific Northwest: Montana, North/South Dakota, California, or Arizona.
WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE
- Provides sales and marketing support to Product Manager (PMs) to drive sales and market-share growth of Helena products.
- Promotes and positions Helena products in the BU, interfacing with division leadership, PMs and SAMs to increase market position and growth of HPG.
- Assists in the creation and implementation of HPG advertisements, co-promotions and sales programs.
- Assists SAMs in building relationships with key HPG suppliers, basic manufacturers and partner companies to maintain a product "gap" list for new product concepts and product development processes.
- Maintains BU and/or division action plans outlining sales-focused research and development activities, including new HPG product launches, market development for existing Helena products and coordination of plot work with regular data review.
- Coordinates Product Quality Notifications (PQN) process and resolution of tank mix, packaging and product performance issues with PMs and the sales team.
- Assists the regulatory department with label-related issues of Helena products and works with Brand Managers and PMs to identify needed updates to labels and registration status.
- Represents HPG in key business-related associations, organizations and industry partners.
- Leads Client Service Team (CST) in identifying technical support materials needed to drive sales.
- Assists CST in monitoring the success of sales support tactics and provides feedback for needed changes and improvements for overall strategies and execution.
- Leads CST, PMs and HPG suppliers to provide Helena product training to internal sales teams, new hires and external customer groups. Training includes, but not limited to; technical product brand features and benefits, brand positioning and overall value propositions designed to assist the sales team in implementation and execution.
- Assists the CST, PMs, AGRIntelligence and agronomy teams in developing data-driven agronomic messaging and positioning of Helena products.
- Leads CST in assessing and comparing competitive products by category.
- Utilizes e-mail, webinars, phone, text and face-to-face meetings with business unit, division and corporate to maintain good communication.
- May be required to drive a company vehicle.
- Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in an agricultural related field is required.
- Five years of work experience in sales, marketing and/or R&D in the agricultural industry is required.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint, are required.
- Ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and restraints.
- Ability to give effective sales presentations in public to both large and small audiences is required.
- Ability to read, write and speak in English is required.
- Communicating in Spanish is a valuable skill at Helena.
- Travel by various means up to 25% of the time is required.
- Valid U.S. driver's license is required to drive a company vehicle.
