Summary
As a Towing Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of tow truck drivers and tow office personnel, ensuring efficient and safe operations within the towing department of Ewing Bros Inc. This role requires a strong combination of leadership, logistical skills, and knowledge of towing operations. A Towing Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of a tow company. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and efficient management of personnel and resources. The Tow Supervisor has the potential to be promoted to the Tow Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Create, administer, and perform training for tow truck operators under the review and direction of the Towing Manager.
Create, manage, and participate in the 24/7/365 work schedule for tow truck operators and, as needed, for tow office staff.
Assists with interviewing, hiring, and maintaining qualified tow truck operators and lot attendants under the direction of the Towing Manager.
Manage fleet, equipment preparedness, and inventory controls.
Develop and maintain towing customers.
Adopt, adapt, and hold accountable all employees to the high standards of the company.
Strong desire to help people and solve challenging problems, including assisting with customer and vendor complaint resolution.
Able to work under pressure in all environmental conditions.
Assists with monitoring employees’ schedules, reviews, and approves their biweekly timecards in the timekeeping system. Assists the Tow Manager with payroll.
Helps anticipate changes in both state and local agency statutes/regulations that will impact the towing industry. An example of this would be participating in local government workshops that relate to the towing industry.
Fills in shift(s) for tow office staff as needed.
Assists in releasing vehicles, holds, and releases, as needed.
Assists with data input as needed.
Assists with delivering, coaching, disciplining, and performance reviews for tow truck operators and Lot Attendants under the guidance of the Tow Manager.
Required to assist the Commerce site staff in the absence of the Commerce site manager.
Responds to and investigates tow truck operator accidents. Follows proper accident procedures and documents accidents thoroughly to be reviewed with the Tow Manager.
Responsible for investigating any claims made for damage or theft of customer property, whether towed or stored.
Assists other supervisors as needed in their absence.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Assists in supervising 20-80 employees regularly.
- Assists with interviewing and training towing staff when needed.
- Organizes and oversees the schedules and performance of the towing department staff and Lot Attendants.
- Draft performance evaluations that are timely and constructive under the review and direction of the Towing Manager.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees following company policy and as a team with the human resources department and the Towing Manager.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have experience with Microsoft Office software and basic computer functions, basic working knowledge of any towing system(s), and the ability to learn new towing systems. Must be able to type a minimum of 40 words per minute with no more than 5 errors. Must be able to operate and effectively monitor security systems. Must know Excel and be comfortable using Microsoft Outlook and all its available features.

Education and/or Experience
3 years of proven experience in the towing industry, including a background in towing operations and knowledge of safety regulations.

Towing certifications preferred.
High school diploma or GED required. An associate's degree is preferred in business administration.
Knowledge of Federal, State, and local towing regulations and laws.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and be forward-thinking to solve problems quickly.
The ability to learn DOT federal regulations and NVDOT state regulations.
Ability to understand Tariffs.
Language Skills
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from manager(s)/Supervisors, clients, customers, and the general public. Bilingual is a plus, but not required.
