Treatment Plant Operator Intern/Trainee
Summary of internship:
This internship provides entry-level exposure to the exciting world of Wastewater/Water Treatment Plant Operations. You will get hands-on experience in monitoring, plant operations, and basic preventative maintenance on equipment at wastewater/water treatment plants (pumps, valves, filters, chlorination systems, etc.).
Through routine inspections, you'll identify potential issues and gain skills in troubleshooting and data analysis. With this internship, you will gain the skills and experience necessary to launch a rewarding career as a Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator.
The hiring rate for this position is:
$18/hour
Regular duties will include:
- Work closely with the Utility Plant Operator to provide plant support.
- Analyze information and alarms on the SCADA computer system and respond to changes and problems.
- Assist the Utility Plant Operator with plant and equipment inspections and plant operations.
- Assist with laboratory sampling and testing.
- Assist in performing basic preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment, including changing oil, belts, exercising equipment, and cleaning and calibrating line instrumentation equipment.
- Assist with data collection and record keeping related to plant operations.
- Assist with general site maintenance duties, including cleaning out basins, channels, reservoirs, and filters; inspecting tools and equipment; and cleaning plant process buildings and areas.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Expectations:
- Ability to work up to 19 hours per week. Days and hours to be determined with plant supervisors.
