Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our transportation services. This position requires effective communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Dispatcher will be responsible for coordinating freight movements, utilizing transportation management systems, and ensuring timely delivery of goods.
Responsibilities
- Utilize transportation management systems to schedule and track shipments effectively.
- Communicate with drivers and clients to provide updates on freight status and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with third-party logistics (3PL) providers to optimize routes and ensure timely deliveries.
- Monitor GPS systems to track vehicle locations and adjust routes as necessary.
- Manage phone systems to handle incoming inquiries and provide excellent customer service.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, including AS400 data entry for tracking purposes.
- Collaborate with supply chain teams to resolve any logistical issues that may arise during transit.
- Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in logistics or transportation management is preferred.
- Familiarity with transportation management systems and GPS technology is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective coordination.
- Ability to work well under pressure while managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proficient in using phone systems and computer software related to logistics operations.
- Knowledge of supply chain processes and 3PL operations is a plus.
