Founded in 1980, Lecom Utility Contractors has grown to become one of Michigan’s premier power line and communication contractors. Lecom is a multi-million-dollar company that performs a range of contracting and installation services for energy and communication providers.
We are looking for an Underground Locator/Operator to join our growing team. This individual will be required to adhere to strict safety standards while ensuring the highest quality of work.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Directional Bore crew and assist training new hires
- Read and interpret blueprints and permits
- Adhere to all Federal, State, Local laws and permitting pertaining to each jobsite
- Locate the bore path for the Drilling equipment
- Preform daily maintenance on all jobsite equipment and vehicles
- Ensure proper bore rig set-up, & fluid mixing
- Able to properly attach product to be pulled in
- Able to accurately operate DCI tracking systems
- Able to locate and pothole necessary utility lines
- Demonstrate good judgment in the field
- Perform all duties adhering to company safety procedures and policies
- Minimum of 2 years of experience locating drill string and running crew
- Clean Insurable driving record
- Class A CDL preferred / chauffer’s license or CDL permit required before starting. Must obtain CDL within 90 days of hire.
- Must be willing to work overtime
- Must be team oriented and display leadership skills
- Exceptional knowledge of horizontal directional drills
- Positive attitude, hard work ethic, and a priority for safety.
- Ability to work outside in all types of weather.
