Summary of Basic Function:
As a Brentwood Bank Teller, you are our customers’ front-line relationship manager responsible for delivering personalized, friendly service while helping our customers with all of their financial service needs. The Teller is responsible for establishing, developing and retaining strong customer relationships; identifying and promoting additional bank products and services; accurately and courteously processing customer transactions; and maintaining accurate cash and transaction records. In addition, this role will act as a resource in identifying and resolving customer service issues through conversation with customers by listening to uncover financial needs and transition customers to bankers to further assist with their financial goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome every customer as they enter the branch; acknowledge by name, if known.
- Build relationships and provide outstanding customer service to all Bank customers while performing account transactions.
- Create a superior and meaningful customer focused experience for each customer or potential customer.
- Coordinate internal and external customer service with other bank employees and departments.
- Take ownership of customer issues and personally guide customers through all interactions with the bank. Engage branch management when needed and provide full solutions for customers.
- Through conversation, listen for clues for financial opportunities during customer conversations, and then appropriately transition the customer to a Banker.
- Understand and actively participate in attaining branch sales goals and objectives.
- Process customer deposits/withdrawals (including night bags), process loan payments, and cash checks.
- Actively promote bank and related products and services to customers and future customers.
- Review and maintain knowledge of products, fees, and policies to stay current with all Bank offerings.
- Comply with all Federal/State banking regulations and all bank operating and security policies and procedures.
- Maintain and accurately balance the teller cash recycler (TCR) and teller window if applicable. Verify totals to generate proof sheet. Accurately balance transit and on-us checks and processes via Branch Capture.
- Report any discrepancies to the supervisor as necessary. Maintain daily work in good order. Safeguard confidential customer information.
- Promote a positive image of Brentwood Bank in the community through involvement in community events and other bank functions.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on business need.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- One year of experience in a customer-facing role
- Cash handling experience preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated superior customer service, sales, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management/prioritization skills.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Physical Requirements: prolonged standing (5-8 hours per day), frequent use of hands to manipulate/grasp objects, ability to communicate face to face and on the phone with clients, occasional bending and lifting from floor height, frequent forward reach, frequent lifting of 1-10lbs, occasional lifting of up to 50lbs, ability to see and read fine print, must be able to distinguish and count currency.
- Job may require working evenings and Saturdays.
- Job may require local travel between branches or offsite travel for training.
