The role of a Universal Banker at Owen County State Bank is to be committed to helping customers reach their financial goals by understanding and meeting customer needs. You will engage with new and existing customers by accepting deposits, giving out cash withdrawals from accounts, and determining their banking and financial goals and needs. You will assist the customer to meet those goals and needs by proactively offering appropriate products, services, and guidance.

Entry Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to obtain registration with the national Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS)

  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality.

  • Knowledge of basic computer operation and data entry.

  • Ability to operate a variety of automated and standard office equipment.

  • One-year related experience in retail banking and/or sales preferred.

Job Duties

  • Perform daily responsibilities to include: accept deposits and accurately process routine transactions including loan payments; redeem savings bonds and sell money orders and cashier checks; prepare cash transaction report; process night deposits and process mail deposits; order foreign currency and wrap and count coins; assist customers with any questions or problems they may have; balance teller drawer, process holds and scan proof work; ATM/balance ATM, process paperwork, resolve issues; access STAR system to enter ATM cards and check for issues; backup on cash vault responsibilities, open/close vault and assist with alarm testing; open bank/security walk through when needed; process cash advance, balance cash advance machine; open/close safe deposit boxes and access lock boxes with customers

  • Perform customer service responsibilities to include: cross-selling additional bank products and services, along with knowledge of opening and closing deposit accounts, servicing customers, processing stop payments, and wire transfers, telephone transfers, placing check orders, processing special instructions on accounts and performing general file maintenance.

  • Originate consumer and home equity loans within the framework of applicable laws, regulations and bank policies.

  • Consistently execute the “Needs Assessment” with new and existing customers and seek opportunities to deliver superior customer service on each interaction.

  • Consistently meet or exceed goals as set by Branch management by effectively and efficiently expanding banking relationships by cross-selling to both current and potential customers.

  • Perform daily office responsibilities and tasks such as account transactions, account maintenance, customer correspondence.

  • Responsible for referring customer relationship opportunities to other lines of businesses.

  • Serve as notary.

  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Comply with the Bank Secrecy Act.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical Activities: Stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
