Part-time Staff Collaborative Pianist

Position Summary:
The Collaborative Pianist at Mercer University's Townsend School of Music plays a vital role in supporting the school's mission to foster excellence in musical learning within a comprehensive university environment. This part-time position involves providing high-quality piano accompaniment for student lessons, rehearsals, performances, and juries, working closely with applied faculty, ensemble directors, and student musicians. Rehearsals and performances may occur during and outside of standard academic hours.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Provide professional piano accompaniment for voice and instrumental lessons, studio classes, rehearsals, juries, and recitals
•
Collaborate with applied music faculty and area coordinators to support student performance preparation
•
Assist students in developing musicianship and collaborative performance skills through regular rehearsals
•
Participate in departmental performances, events, and special projects as assigned
•
Can work for up to 19.5 hours/week
•
Support the mission of the Townsend School of Music and uphold the values of Mercer University
Qualifications:
•
Bachelor’s degree in music (Master’s degree preferred) with experience in collaborative piano/accompaniment
•
Demonstrated proficiency in sight-reading and a broad collaborative repertoire.
•
Experience working with student musicians in a university or conservatory setting is highly desirable
•
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collegially with faculty, staff, and students
•
Background check required
