Role & Responsibilities:
- P&L responsibility for regional domestic transportation product.
- Strengthen procurement and grow overall profitability from adopting national/local carriers with competitive and effective solutions.
- Responsible for Domestic Truck RFQ feedback and increase company’s win ratio.
- Responsible for assisting product, tender and overseas for competitive solution to increase our overall competitiveness for International Transportation biz.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to design and implement transportation solutions tailored for both small and large-scale customer and projects.
- Work with carriers to ensure capacity support and service consistency during seasonal surges as well project-based volume fluctuations.
- Selects carriers and negotiates contracts for transportation services based on cost and service requirements. Drives continuous improvement in carrier performance, including carriers managed by 3PLs. Ensures that all shipments offered for carriage comply with state, federal and international regulations.
- Define vendor procurement strategy/policy and incorporate with benchmarking mechanism to enforce price pre-negotiation
- Design, develop and implement key performance indicators to measure operational performance and process compliance.
- Define vendor price evaluation procedure including “comparing contract rate and market rate” and “comparing ad-hoc rate and market rate”.
- Define truck cost review process with stations to identify abnormal cost expense.
- Convert historical cost data to local trucking price book for sales and operation to reference.
- Ensure the effective use of systems and tools to support warehouse and transportation management systems.
- Provide Vendor Portfolio for Stations and support in case of escalation.
- Collaborate with Vendor Management, Legal, and Security departments to protect the company’s best interest and minimize risk of trucking contracts, compliance, onboarding, and performance assessment
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business Management, Business Administration preferred, combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Minimum 10-12 years’ experience in domestic freight logistics required, domestic freight forwarding experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience team leadership/management experience required.
- Experience utilizing TMS systems to support transportation planning, performance, and continuous improvement.
- Budget / P&L (Profit and Loss) management experience preferred.
- Results-oriented, metrics-driven leader, with a track record of driving process implementation and improvements while delivering overall operating results.
- Effective communicator and collaborative problem solver.
- Ability to negotiate with carriers/forwarders to optimize shipping lanes and reduce rates (LCL, FCL, LTL, FTL, Parcel and Global carriers).
- Excellent organization, analytical, written and oral communication skills.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to think creatively and strategically to solve complex problems.
- Must be a confident self-starter who can develop effective business relationships, both internally and externally.
- Must be self-motivated, customer-service oriented and eager to ensure the success of the team.
- Ability to function independently, with minimal supervision.
- Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
