This person in this position has a great deal of responsibility for safely transporting Development Centers’ consumers to and from the agency and other activities. This position functions with a great deal of independence under the general guidance and supervision of the Department Manager and/or Transportation Supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Contact consumers for pick-up status for appointments or other programs
- Ability to efficiently and effectively plan transportation routes for various programs
- Attend vehicle safety trainings
- Conduct evacuation drills with consumers
- Follow all State rules, laws, and guidelines governing safe driving
- Assist consumers in safely entering and exiting vehicles, as needed
- Keep vehicles clean and well maintained
- Maintain an orderly, calm, and professional manner with consumers
- Keep open communication with Program Supervisors and Managers regarding any problems or concerns
- Document and report all maintenance issues related to the vehicle i.e., safety issues or concerns, traffic violations or tickets, accidents or any other unusual incident, to Supervisor within 24 hours of the incident
- Provide transportation of consumers for program field trips or outings, if applicable
- Responsible for productivity, documentation, safety, and accountability of time standards per agency and department expectations
- Other tasks and responsibilities, as assigned
- High School Diploma
- Clean driving record
- Current, valid MI Chauffeur’s License and the ability to meet agency’s insurance company standards for coverage
