Your Mission as an Administrative Assistant:
Step into an impactful position as an Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA), where you’ll be at the heart of patient care support. - Be the Backbone of Coordinating Operations: Analyze schedules and optimize appointment availability to ensure Veterans receive the timely care they need.
- Connect with Purpose: Serve as a key communicator between patients, care teams, and external providers, ensuring everyone is on the same page and communication is clear.
- Champion Patient Care: Use your problem-solving skills to anticipate and resolve scheduling challenges, and ensure no detail is overlooked in delivering comprehensive care.

Medical Administrative Assistant Qualifications and Experience:
To qualify for this Advanced role, your resume must clearly show:
- At least 1 year of full time experience in a medical support or clinical administrative assistant role in a healthcare setting.
Be sure your resume highlights skills like:
- Scheduling, canceling, and rescheduling patient appointments using advanced scheduling systems
- Documenting no-show information and tracking appointment requests from multiple sources
- Verifying and updating patient demographics and insurance
- Ability to work closely with a range of healthcare professionals like doctors, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, etc., to achieve team goals and ensure coordinated patient care
- Set priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines while following established policies
- Communicate professionally in person, by phone, in writing, and electronically
- Prepare reports
- Resolve patient concerns
- Understand and apply healthcare policies and procedures that affect patient flow, referrals, and provider availability
- Use and understand medical terminology accurately in your daily work

- Medical Administrative Assistant Hourly Wage: $23.66 - $30.76 per hour
- Annual Salary Increases: 2% federal, 2% local, and promotional (on average)
