Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in providing high-quality care for animals in our facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in animal handling and a strong understanding of veterinary terminology. As a Kennel Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the well-being of the animals, maintaining a clean environment, and assisting with various tasks related to animal care.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising.
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas to ensure a safe environment.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff.
- Assist with administering medications and treatments as directed by veterinary personnel.
- Handle animals safely and humanely during routine procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of animal care and activities.
- Support veterinary staff with laboratory tasks when needed.
- Engage with pet owners to provide updates on their pets’ well-being.
Qualifications
- Experience in dog handling or working in a kennel environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal anatomy is a plus.
- Familiarity with animal care practices, including basic hygiene and feeding routines.
- Ability to handle various types of animals, including dogs, cats, and potentially equine.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
- A compassionate attitude towards animals and their needs.
- Willingness to learn about animal catheterization and other veterinary procedures as necessary.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
