Cole Animal Clinic is looking for a warm, friendly individual who loves animals and is very personable to fill our Veterinary Technician Assistant position. The Veterinary Technician Assistant plays a crucial supporting role in a Veterinary clinic, assisting our Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians in providing high-quality care to animal patients. With duties often involving a blend of direct animal care, administrative tasks, and facility maintenance. We are looking to hire a team player with exceptional people skills and a candidate with a never-say-no attitude. Must be friendly, helpful and have a courteous demeanor.

Key Responsibilities often include:
Patient Care and Handling:
- Providing basic animal husbandry, including feeding, watering, exercising, and cleaning kennels/cages.
- Assisting with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Monitoring the health and behavior of hospitalized animals and reporting any changes to the veterinary team.
- Administering medications or immunizations as prescribed by the veterinarian (under supervision).
- Assisting with wound care, bathing, and grooming.
Assisting in Medical Procedures:
- Preparing animals for procedures (e.g., shaving, weighing).
- Sterilizing and organizing surgical instruments and equipment.
- Assisting during surgeries, dental cleanings, and other medical procedures by passing instruments and monitoring patients.
- Aiding in the collection of samples (blood, urine, feces, etc.) for laboratory testing.
- Assisting with diagnostic imaging (e.g., radiography) and other tests.
Facility Maintenance and Organization:
- Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and other hospital facilities.
- Doing laundry and cleaning dishes.
- Restocking supplies in exam rooms, treatment areas, and the pharmacy.
- Ensuring proper disposal of medical waste.
Administrative Support & Client Communication:
- Greeting clients and their pets, ensuring they feel welcome and comfortable.
- Assisting with check-in and check-out procedures for appointments.
- Answering phones and scheduling appointments.
- Maintaining accurate patient records and logs.
- Providing basic client education on general animal husbandry, nutrition, preventative care, and post-procedure instructions.
- Communicating effectively with clients, veterinarians, and other staff members.
