Position Summary:
We are seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic VPK Assistant Teacher to support our lead teacher in delivering a high-quality preschool experience. You’ll help implement daily routines, support classroom management, and foster a positive learning environment for 4-year-olds preparing for kindergarten.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher in delivering age-appropriate VPK curriculum activities
- Support children’s emotional, social, and cognitive development through active engagement
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
- Monitor and supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety
- Assist with daily routines such as meals, bathroom breaks, and transitions
- Communicate professionally with families and staff
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required
Qualifications:
- Must meet DCF requirements for preschool assistant teachers (or be willing to complete required training)
- 45 DCF training hours preferred (or in progress)
- Experience working with preschool-aged children
- Positive attitude, team spirit, and patience
- Must be able to pass a Level II background screening
