About the Role:
Third Future Schools is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Weightlifting Instructor to lead strength and conditioning sessions for students in grades 6 through 8 as part of our Experiential Education Program at Hirschi Middle School in Baton Rouge. This is a part-time, contract position for the 2025–2026 school year (August 2025 – June 2026).
This is a great opportunity for fitness professionals who are passionate about youth strength training, physical education, and athletic development.
Class Times Available:
- Monday through Friday (Exact times TBD)
- Contractors may select preferred days/times
Start Date:
August 4, 2025
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and lead developmentally appropriate weight training and strength-conditioning classes for middle school students
- Teach proper lifting form, injury prevention, stretching, and warm-up/cool-down techniques
- Promote physical health, goal setting, discipline, and confidence through fitness training
- Ensure safe and respectful use of all equipment and facilities
- Monitor student progress and provide pass/fail grades per school guidelines
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to align fitness goals with school values
- Model professionalism, punctuality, and Third Future Schools’ Readiness Traits
- Maintain a clean, organized training environment and reinforce student accountability
- Effectively manage student behavior and uphold safety policies
Qualifications:
- Experience working with middle school students or youth athletes is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of age-appropriate fitness practices, Olympic lifting basics, and injury prevention
- Certification in personal training, strength & conditioning (e.g., NASM, ACSM, NSCA, ACE, CrossFit L1) preferred but NOT required
- Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field is a plus
- Strong classroom or group leadership, communication, and motivational skills
- Must pass background check and comply with school safety protocols
Compensation:
- $30/hour
- Independent contractors are paid bi-weekly
