About us:
White Lotus Farms is a collective of artisan makers - bakers, cheesemakers, chefs, and farmers. For the past 15 years we've served the southeastern Michigan community with fresh, hand-made, small-batch delicacies through farms markets and local specialty food stores.
We are now expanding into our first brick-and-mortar cafe and storefront. We will be serving our baked goods, sandwiches, pizzas, soups, salads, as well as pre-pared items to go.
We are looking for a few bakers to make our artisan sourdough breads and croissants by hand from scratch. Our ideal candidate is someone who loves bread and baking, and is enthusiastic about learning and making delicious food.
Timeline for training and opening:
Hiring is happening over the course of July and early August.
Middle of August, paid training will begin, running through cafe opening.
Early September, Cafe grand opening.
Job Description:
Our bakers will be producing freshly baked breads and pastries 5 days a week. They will learn the processes start to finish, from milling our own wheat, hand shaping the dough, to baking each loaf of bread with care and precision. Early morning start times are necessary.
Qualifications:
- enthusiasm for making great artisan sourdough breads and croissants
- a willingness to take direction and follow detailed instructions
- willingness to work 8-10 hour shifts sometimes with very early start times
- able to lift at least 50 pounds
- enjoys a fast paced work environment
- previous baking experience a plus but not required
- an understanding of "bakers math" a plus but not required
- Maintain a clean work area
- Use proper food handling, safety and storage techniques
- Work as a team
- Arrive on time and ready to work your scheduled shifts
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned

- Well organized and able to multi-task
