Position Description:
Revolution Workshop teaches woodworking skills while creating beautiful, handmade furniture and home goods. Our Social Enterprise sells these products, and all net proceeds directly support our job training program for unemployed individuals.
Revolution Workshop is looking for an experienced tradesperson passionate about growing the future of construction in Chicago. This individual demonstrates technical and experiential competence in custom woodworking, and manufacturing, with considerable experience operating a woodworking facility while teaching woodworking skills.

Reporting Structure
● This position reports directly to the Woodshop Manager
Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. Occasional evening and/or weekend events required and will flex hours accordingly.
Roles and Responsibilities
This position is full-time and year-round “Woodshop” side of our Social Enterprise – A program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to lay out and shape stock; assemble wooden articles or subassemblies; mark, bind, saw, carve, and sand wooden products; repair wooden articles, and use a variety of hand tools, power tools and machines.
RW-Woodshop (100%)
● Maintain production and keep projects on time per the project schedule set on jobs by the Manager
● Teach woodworking and production skills to your Program Project Alumni Leads and Program Alumni working in the woodshop while working on the same projects
● Enforce safety standards and compliance on assigned projects
● Maintain the rules and culture of the woodshop
● Other tasks assigned by the Manager
● Occasional travel to jobsites
● Takes initiative, able to anticipate Shop/Building needs
● Maintain and organize the shop/building, all shop tools and equipment
● Building and machine maintenance, safety, and repair

Work Environment:
● Work will be indoors. It is expected to be exposed to heavy machinery, loud tools, dust, debris and heights.
Qualifications
● 10-15 years of Commercial Custom Millwork, Cabinetry, and Furniture Making in the Woodworking Industry as a Bench Carpenter/Cabinetmaker. Machine Setter and Operator of commercial grade woodworking machines; Dust System, Planer, Jointer, Panel Saw, Cabinet Saws, Radial Arm Saw, Wide Belt Sander, Shaper, CNC Portable Router, Glue Rack System, and all handheld power/hand tools
● High School Diploma or GED
● Some computer skills – Google G Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, Gmail etc.).
● Microsoft Office, Excel, ability to learn new systems and databases
● Shared lived experience with our Program Alumni, or at least two years’ experience working with racially diverse groups
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
● Must be a team leader and detail oriented
● Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work to produce required results
● Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
● Ability to stay organized across multiple projects at the same time
● Recognize and respond to emerging priorities, allow for flexibility in your schedule.

Salary: Non-exempt, $26-$30/hour
