Work Environment & Travel: This is a hybrid position requiring on-site presence at our Home Office in Jackson, MI, at least 3 days per week, with up to 10% travel, as needed. To support this work environment, candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of Jackson, MI, to be considered.
- Claims Management & Documentation
- Initiate and document First Reports of Injury, including team member details, injury specifics, and medical provider information.
- Enter incident data into IndustrySafe and submit claims to the TPA as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records in WCCMS, including claim status, restrictions, and communications.
- Communication & Coordination
- Act as the primary liaison between Dawn locations, insurance adjusters, nurse case managers, physicians, and injured team members.
- Provide regular updates, clarify information, and ensure timely follow-up via phone and email.
- Assist with scheduling and ensure attendance at medical appointments.
- Medical & Wage Oversight
- Monitor treatment progress and appointment attendance for active and former team members.
- Coordinate with physicians on discharges and treatment plans.
- Track lost time cases, request wage statements, and determine payment timelines.
- Provide lost time and modified duty reports to the Claims Specialist and Distribution Safety Director.
- Claim Closure & Reporting
- Follow up with adjusters and locations to ensure timely claim closure.
- Notify payroll and locations of closures and update systems accordingly.
- Collaborate with the Claims Specialist to review active claims, escalate complex cases, and ensure data accuracy across systems like RisxFacs.
- Administrative Support
- Request and distribute personnel files from HR as needed.
- Perform other related duties to support the Workers’ Compensation program.
- A High School Diploma or GED is required
- An Associate’s Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Human Resources, or a similar field is preferred
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Workers’ Compensation, Claims Management, or Human Resources, with a strong focus on managing workers’ compensation cases.
- Experience and knowledge of workers’ compensation laws, procedures, and best practices
- Experience working with third-party administrators (TPAs), insurance adjusters, and medical providers
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism
- Hands-on experience with data entry of claims and supporting documents, ensuring workers' compensation records are accurate, current, and easy to access
- Experience using case management systems (e.g., WCCMS) and incident reporting tools (e.g., IndustrySafe)
- Strong customer-service-oriented communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders (employees, HR, safety, insurance, and medical teams)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple claims and deadlines
- Strong sense of accountability and follow-through
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of the team
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Outlook, Excel, and Word
- The normal work setting for this role is hybrid, requiring presence at the Home Office 3 days per week.
