Position: YAP Specialist

Status: Salaried/Exempt


General Description:

This is a professional position who provides services to assigned caseload working with assigned Agency consumers and their families in the home, community and at the agency providing instructive counseling activities, assisting with treatment goals, and working to develop positive relationships serving as constructive role model and mentor. Reports directly to the YAP Supervisor.


The Ennis Center for Children has been in operation since 1978 and has helped numerous children throughout the state of Michigan! Qualifications (required at time of offer):

    • Bachelor?s degree with major in social work, sociology, psychology, guidance and counseling, or criminal justice with one year experience in case management. OR an Associate?s degree in social services, youth development and education, community and public services with two years? experience in case management.
    • Prior experience working with delinquent youth, at risk youth or families with multiple problems.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills.
    • Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
    • Reliable transportation.
    • Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, with ?regular? business hours set by the Agency.
    • Able to perform on-call services 24-hours per day, seven days per week to assist Agency consumers and/or provide crisis intervention as required.
    • Prior experience with Microsoft Office and related applications or other IBM-compatible word processing program.
    • Satisfaction of all employment eligibility and Agency hiring requirements.

Responsibilities (illustrative and not intended as inclusive; specific responsibilities may vary):

The primary responsibility is to provide timely services to all assigned Agency consumers and their families as outlined in program specific contract. Such services may include face-to-face meetings with Agency consumers and/or their family members, providing timely responses to calls and other inquiries from the same, group work and other services.

    • Ensures accurate, professional, and timely completion of all required reports, logs, notes, and other paperwork as required by Program-specific procedures and/or the applicable contract terms.
    • Ensures accurate, professional, and timely completion of all Agency-required reports, paperwork, and filings and attendance at all court hearings when and if required by specific program contract.
    • Provides ongoing weekly services to assigned Agency consumers and families, in coordination with the applicable organization as required by Program-specific procedures and/or the applicable contract terms.
    • Ensures accurate, professional, and timely attendance at all meetings, trainings, groups, case conferences, client sessions and general supervision.
    • Performs other Agency-related duties as assigned.

  • Maintains as confidential all matters related to Agency affairs and refrains from internal and external discussions related to any employee, consumer, financial, or administrative issue except as required as part of job performance.
