Yard Forklift Operator

Overview

We’re looking for a dependable and safety-focused Yard Forklift Operator to join our team. In this hands-on role, you'll be responsible for the efficient movement and organization of precast concrete products, including drains, culverts, manhole risers and wastewater pipes. You’ll play a critical part in our inventory and shipping operations.

A strong forklift background is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate Heavy Equipment – Safely operate forklifts, including those up to 18,000 pounds, and other mobile equipment like yard trucks and loaders, to move materials and finished precast products.
• Manage Yard Inventory – Efficiently remove materials from production areas and organize the product yard. Accurately log inventory in our control software to ensure precise tracking and availability.
• Load and Ship Products – Load precast products onto trucks according to the planning schedule, ensuring all shipments are accurate and complete with proper paperwork.
• Maintain a Safe & Organized Workspace – Follow 5S housekeeping principles and all company safety, quality, and environmental policies to maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free outdoor work area.
• Follow Work Instructions – Attend daily safe start meetings and comply with all safe work practices and procedures. Provide ground hand signals to other operators as needed.
• Inspect for Quality – Examine received materials and finished products to verify conformance to quality standards.
• Collaborate & Communicate – Professionally interact with internal and external customers. Provide support as a team member and communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years of forklift experience in a yard, warehouse or manufacturing environment
• Mechanical Aptitude: Competent in operating 18,000-pound forklifts and yard trucks; knowledge of proper rigging principles and the ability to operate hand tools.
• Comfort Outdoors: Comfortable working full time outside managing inventory in the yard, year-round
• Hustle: Ability to maintain a steady, fast tempo throughout the workday
• Work Ethic: Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented, with a willingness to follow instructions and contribute positively to a team environment.
• Safety First Mindset: Strong awareness of safe work practices and a commitment to maintaining a safe environment, with good visual acuity.
• Communication: Demonstrates verbal and written communication skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
