Key performance areas

As the Technical Writer – Instruction Manual & Parts, you will be responsible for the creation of parts documentation and bulletins for parts, service, and safety for Sandvik Surface Pedestal Drills. You will create parts manuals in both electronic and paper format for use by customers and Sandvik frontline and Sandvik Dealers, as well as, maintain current legacy manuals and update as required. The Technical Writer – Instruction Manual & Parts will also create bulletins and manage their release to the business as directed by Product Management

The Technical Writer responsibilities include:

  • Creating manuals per unit as per the final Bill of Materials (BoM) request
  • Ensuring all Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) are reviewed and parts detail is updated for all new unit deliveries
  • Ensuring unit order options are reviewed and added to the parts manuals as required
  • Creation of part numbers in the local ERP system for kits and supplied parts BoM’s
  • Creating manuals for units built in other countries
  • Maintaining and updating parts information for units already in the field as engineering updates are provided
  • Liaising with Product Support, Engineering and Product Management in creation of bulletins
  • Ensuring Bulletins are approved before distribution to the front line
  • Distributing Bulletins to frontline
    and uploading into libraries

Your profile

Besides possessing a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in the Engineering field) or equivalent experience, you also possess a minimum of 5 years of Technical Parts writing experience and Technical documentation writing experience. Experience working with Parts BoM and structure is required, and you have a high level of computer literacy with an understanding of ERP and service systems. Advanced experience in arts writing software (such as Cat Base/Digibit/Documoto, Adobe Frame Maker, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Corel Draw) is highly preferred.

You are highly proactive, dedicated, and driven to achieve goals and targets. You possess excellent time management and communication skills (written and verbal) and a proven ability to multitask. Your attention to detail is top-notch and you are extremely organized. You enjoy solving problems and possess sound decision making capabilities. You are also a team player, with strong listening and interpersonal skills.
