Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and technically minded Senior Project Engineer (m/f/d) to join our engineering team supporting navy navigation projects for naval and governmental ships.
In this role, you will take ownership of the design and documentation of marine navigation systems, working closely with customers, suppliers, shipyards, and colleagues across the business. The position suits an engineer with a strong electrical, electrotechnical, and computer systems background who wants to deepen their expertise in maritime navigation and control systems.
You will be involved across the complete engineering process, from system layouts and electrical documentation through to testing, commissioning support, and customer interaction. Prior maritime experience is an advantage, but solid engineering fundamentals and a structured, proactive approach matter just as much.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop project-specific navigation documentation based on established standard documentation packages
- Design system layouts and architecture diagrams for marine navigation systems and electrical installations
- Develop electrical drawings for cabinets, consoles, and automation systems using EPLAN
- Define cabinet layouts, hardware configurations, and electrical interfaces
- Prepare cable lists and support cable routing and connection definitions for automation systems
- Produce technical documentation and drawings for NACOS Marine products
- Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
- Collaborate with customers, suppliers, shipyards, and internal stakeholders throughout project execution
- Participate in vessel surveys, system start-ups, commissioning activities, and on-site support when required
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and share technical knowledge with colleagues
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Naval Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Proven experience in electrical or automation engineering within an industrial, marine, or naval environment
- Strong electrical and electrotechnical knowledge and understanding of industrial or naval systems
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
- Hands-on experience with EPLAN, AutoCAD, or similar electrical design software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to engineering tasks
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues, customers, and suppliers
- Ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team
- Fluent in English and Norwegian, both written and spoken
- Willingness to travel to shipyards and vessels as required
- Eligibility for security clearance in accordance with Norwegian regulations (background check required)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with marine navigation systems
- Familiarity with navigation sensors and computer networks
- Knowledge of maritime regulations, classification society requirements, or shipbuilding processes
- Experience supporting FAT activities and commissioning
