IT Systems Engineer

About the role

As a Level 2/3 Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for providing advanced technical support, project delivery, and infrastructure management for a wide range of customers.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both technical problem-solving and customer engagement. You'll work across modern Microsoft environments, networking infrastructure, cybersecurity platforms and cloud technologies while supporting small to medium-sized businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support.
• Troubleshoot and resolve server, network, and Microsoft 365 issues.
• Manage and support Windows Server and Hyper-V environments.
• Deploy and maintain Microsoft 365, Intune, Azure, and SharePoint solutions.
• Troubleshoot networking environments, including switching, VLANs, firewalls and VPNs.
• Implement and support cybersecurity solutions including MFA, endpoint protection, and security monitoring.
• Support backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Deliver infrastructure and cloud migration projects.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.
• Participate in customer onboarding and technology improvement initiatives.
• Escalate and collaborate with internal team members where required.
• Assist with proactive monitoring, maintenance, and optimisation of customer environments.
• Take ownership of technical issues and follow them through to completion.

About you

You are professional, organised and calm under pressure. You take pride in your work, communicate clearly, and enjoy working both independently and as part of a team.

• A minimum of three years’ experience in an MSP or similar IT support environment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across Microsoft technologies.
• Strong working knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, Teams, Entra ID, Windows Server, Active Directory and Hyper-V.
• Experience with DNS, DHCP and Group Policy.
• Sound networking knowledge, including switching, VLANs, firewalls and VPNs.
• Experience with remote monitoring and management tools, IT service management platforms and Halo PSA or similar ticketing systems.
• A sound understanding of cybersecurity best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Highly Desirable

• Microsoft Intune administration experience.
• Azure infrastructure experience.
• Experience with UniFi or FortiGate networking.
• Backup and disaster recovery solutions experience.
