Cabot Citrus Farms

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will lead and perform key aspects of day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, GL integrity, reconciliations, AP/AR functions, financial reporting, and internal controls. The Accounting Manager will: prepare and review financial reports, journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules; perform research and analysis as needed to support accurate financial reporting; and ensure compliance with established accounting policies and procedures in accordance with U.S. GAAP and applicable USALI reporting standards. The Accounting Manager will maintain and oversee the general ledger and account reconciliation processes and support the Controller with annual audit preparation and other accounting initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including oversight of staff and the payment process.
  • Develop, prepare, and maintain the monthly accounting close schedule for review and approval by Controller and/or CFO.
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries and ensure entries are accurate, appropriately supported, and recorded in a timely manner, including revenue, accruals, prepayments, work-in-process (WIP), payroll, petty cash, depreciation, and other recurring or non-recurring entries.
  • Prepare/ review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules, and investigate significant or unusual variances prior to review by the Controller.
  • Maintain and improve accounting processes, documentation, and internal controls, including appropriate segregation of duties.
  • Review bank reconciliations, cash activity, and related reconciliations, and ensure timely investigation and resolution of reconciling items.
  • Prepare and/or review reconciliations of revenue, fixed asset and construction-in-progress (CIP) subledgers to the general ledger including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
  • Lead and actively participate in month-end close procedures ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Maintain and oversee the integrity of company general ledger and accounting records.
  • Work with project management and construction management to ensure appropriate accounting procedures are followed, including reviewing and analyzing project costs, job cost estimates, and related reports on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare or review of sales and payroll tax reconciliations, monitoring filing and payment deadlines, and coordinate resolution of tax notices.
  • Oversee payroll accounting and reconciliation and coordinate the payroll process with Talent and Culture and other applicable departments.
  • Coordinate vendor credit applications and maintain vendor relationships/credit arrangements, subject to Controller/CFO approval.
  • Oversee accounting-system integrity, process improvements, and ERP/reporting workflows, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and automation.
  • Lead and actively participate in year-end audit preparation, including preparation and review of supporting schedules, coordination of auditor documentation and requests, resolution of audit inquiries and preparation of year-end journal entries, with support from the Controller.
  • Identify, investigate, and promptly communicate unusual transactions, reporting discrepancies, control issues, and other accounting matters to the Controller.
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing financial information and trends.
  • Document and maintain accounting standard operating procedures and ensure compliance with established accounting procedures and policies.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience, including experience with month-end close and supervisory or team leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus.
  • Hospitality and/or construction accounting experience is preferred.
