Sacred Heart University’s Department of Accounting & Information Systems in the AACSB-accredited Welch College of Business & Technology invites applications for Adjunct Instructors committed to preparing students to use financial knowledge and sound judgment to guide the future of business and society.
At Sacred Heart, adjunct instructors bring accounting expertise into an applied learning environment that connects financial theory with professional practice. The role offers a meaningful opportunity to shape the next generation of accounting professionals by helping students develop technical knowledge, analytical judgment, and the ability to deliver accurate financial insight across business, government, education, and law.
Undergraduate and graduate offerings include a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, an accelerated bachelor’s-to-master’s pathway, a Master of Science in Accounting, and specialized minors and certificates in accounting fundamentals, business analysis and reporting, forensic accounting, and tax compliance and planning. Students can also prepare for the AICPA Examination and gain applied experience through opportunities such as Volunteer Income Tax Assistance. Responsibilities
Teach assigned undergraduate or graduate accounting courses in accordance with established course objectives and academic standards
Create an engaging and supportive learning environment
Connect accounting concepts and principles with current professional practice
Provide students with timely feedback and maintain regular communication throughout the course
Collaborate with the department chair and faculty as appropriate
Fulfill all responsibilities associated with the assigned course
Qualifications
A minimum of a master’s degree in accounting or a closely related field
Prior college-level teaching experience is preferred
Strong verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Commitment to fostering a collegial and supportive environment in which all members of the University community can thrive and succeed
