Job description

Summary

The Director Enterprise Architect will own end-to-end architecture for the Aperture platform, Anovo's core data and reporting environment supporting specialty pharmacy operations. This role sets technical direction and standards across the full stack — application, data, infrastructure, and security — and acts as the primary architectural authority for how Aperture is built, deployed, and scaled.

This is a hands-on architecture leadership role: the Enterprise Architect will design and govern solutions across a modern cloud-native stack (AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, GitOps via Argo CD), a .NET/React application layer, and a PostgreSQL data tier, while partnering closely with engineering, data analytics, and IT leadership to ensure Aperture scales reliably to meet growing business and compliance demands.

The below is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job and is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of essential functions, responsibilities, or requirements.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Own the overall architecture and technical roadmap for the Aperture platform, from application design through infrastructure and deployment
  2. Define and enforce architecture standards, design patterns, and coding practices across the .NET/React application stack
  3. Design and evolve the data architecture on PostgreSQL, including schema strategy, performance, and data integrity
  4. Architect and govern the AWS cloud environment, including EKS/Kubernetes cluster design, networking, scaling, and cost management
  5. Own the GitOps deployment model using Argo CD, ensuring reliable, auditable, and repeatable releases
  6. Establish branching, code review, and CI/CD standards within Bitbucket to support consistent, high-quality delivery
  7. Design and maintain identity and access architecture using Microsoft Entra, ensuring secure authentication and authorization across the platform
  8. Partner with engineering, product, and data analytics teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical designs
  9. Evaluate new technologies and architectural patterns, making build-vs-buy and platform evolution recommendations
  10. Lead architecture reviews, document key decisions (ADRs), and mentor engineers on architectural best practices
  11. Ensure the platform meets security, compliance, and reliability requirements appropriate to a specialty pharmacy handling sensitive healthcare data
  12. Own capacity planning, performance, and disaster recovery strategy for the platform
  13. Partner with our current systems integrator (SI) partner to validate and align architecture direction
  14. Regular and reliable attendance is expected.
  15. Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.

Minimum Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Required

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 10+ years in software/enterprise architecture roles, including experience owning architecture for a production platform end-to-end
  • Proven experience architecting cloud-native applications on AWS at production scale
  • Track record of setting technical direction across full-stack teams (application, data, and infrastructure)
  • Experience in a regulated industry (healthcare, pharmacy, or similarly compliance-driven environment) preferred

Technical Skills

  • Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS (deep hands-on experience across core services), AWS EKS and Kubernetes cluster architecture and operations
  • Deployment & CI/CD: Argo CD and GitOps deployment models; Bitbucket for source control, branching strategy, and pipelines
  • Application Stack: Core .NET (C#) for backend services; React for front-end architecture
  • Data: PostgreSQL — schema design, performance tuning, and data architecture at scale
  • Identity & Security: Microsoft Entra (Azure AD) for identity, authentication, and access architecture
  • Strong understanding of microservices, API design, containerization, and distributed systems patterns
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code and observability/monitoring practices in a Kubernetes environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience architecting platforms in specialty pharmacy, healthcare, or life sciences, with familiarity with HIPAA and related compliance requirements
  • Experience standing up or scaling an enterprise architecture function within a mid-size IT organization
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Certified Kubernetes Administrator/CKA, TOGAF)
  • Experience with data platforms supporting reporting and analytics workloads
  • Prior experience presenting architecture strategy to senior IT and business leadership
