Status: under 29 hours/week
Location: Feith Family YMCA (465 Northwoods Rd. Port Washington, WI 53074)
Wage: $15/hour
Benefit Package Including: Free Y Membership; Program Discounts including Child Care, School Age Care, and Day Camp
Hours: October-March Saturday mornings 8:30-12pm.
POSITION
SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Youth Recreation Director the Basketball Coach is responsible for assisting and leading the assigned youth sport programs. They will be coaching/instructing 3-year-olds through 5th grade level, and will help referee upper grade league games.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Arrives beforehand to set up equipment and cleans up equipment and the fields before leaves.
- Needs to have reliable transportation to offsite programming.
- Needs to be comfortable working with kids ages 3-12 and leading small groups.
- Assists the Youth Recreation Director to run through the day’s lesson plan and expectations before the program begins.
- Teaches the youth sports program curriculum assigned by the Youth Recreation Director.
- Communicates appropriately with parents and reports any problems or concerns to Youth Recreation Director.
- Maintains the safety of all participants.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct and policies within the Child Abuse Prevention handbook.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Previous participation in or knowledge of sports preferred.
- Experience with a diverse population.
- Strong communication and team working skills.
- Ability to interact with children at their cognitive level.
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Bloodborne Pathogens/Child Abuse Prevention every year
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to lift 40 lbs.
- Stand, run, kick, throw, bend, and catch.
- Noise level is usually moderate.
