REGIONAL ALARM OPERATIONS MANAGER
JOB DESCRIPTION
Reports To: Director of Fire Alarms
Direct Reports: Local Operations Managers at each site in the region
Travel: 30 to 40%, including overnight travel
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Oversee all fire alarm and special hazards construction and remodel operations across multiple sites within the assigned region
- Lead, develop, and hold accountable the local operations managers at each site, with authority to hire, conduct performance reviews, take corrective action, and terminate
- Develop and execute a long-term regional strategy, including job pursuit, market and customer targeting, team skillsets, training and coaching needs, and recruiting
- Allocate labor, equipment, and resources across sites based on workload and priorities
- Monitor, consolidate, and report on revenue, gross margin, backlog, and productivity metrics for each site and for the region as a whole
- Own the annual regional budget and forecast, and hold each site accountable to plan
- Oversee job performance at every site, including WIP, percent complete, margin fade, and budget vs. actual; educate local managers on job financials and ask the tough questions when jobs drift
- Ensure accurate and timely pay applications, retainage tracking, and billing, and support AR collections
- Ensure contract and scope review is completed before job setup
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve standardized operating processes across all sites in the region
- Assist in refining company policies, workflows, SOPs, and related KPIs
- Drive the growth of the fire alarm and special hazards/suppression business throughout the region
- Oversee project lifecycle controls at all sites: turnover, submittals, permitting and AHJ approval, acceptance testing, Record of Completion, as-builts, and closeout
- Ensure a complete closeout handoff to service team management, including warranty, initial inspection, and service agreement conversion
- Oversee audits and the work instruction improvement process at all sites to ensure integrity, relevance, and consistency
- Coordinate installation for Premier Accounts across sites to ensure that customer needs are consistently met
- Keep site company licenses and individual licenses current at every site in the region
- Work with regional sales teams to develop, augment, and update the pricing program for construction sales
- Partner with the Director of Fire Alarms to prepare regional construction and resource analyses
- Identify and implement technology and process improvements across sites to increase regional productivity and profitability
- Lead the regional safety program: ensure regular job site safety audits and weekly toolbox talks at every site, deliver risk assessment training to all construction employees, provide a safe working environment, and enforce compliance with all company safety practices
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Fire Alarms or executive management

- Communicate effectively and professionally across all sites in the region, within the department, and with internal and external customers
- Understand, Follow, and Ensure Consistent Application of HR and Safety Initiatives and Processes at All Sites
- Conduct Weekly Meetings with Local Operations Managers and the Regional Team: Superintendents, Administration, Sales, Design, etc.
- Review status on all jobs across the region: materials, equipment rentals, subcontractors, intercompany jobs, etc.
- Assist local managers in determining jobs to be billed and monthly projections for Construction/Remodel at each site
- Timely Review and Sign Off on Site and Regional Reports
- Track and Ensure Profitability of Each Site and the Region as a Whole
- Oversee Change Order Management Across All Sites
- Promote and Track Regional Growth: stretch goal of 20%/year (Construction and Remodel site and regional goals to be discussed annually)
- Support and Ensure Adherence to All Company SOPs at Every Site: Job Set Up, Contracts, Change Orders, Purchase Orders, Accounting Processes, Subcontractors, Closeout and Service Handoff, etc.
- Ensure Inventory Control measures are in place at each site
- Ensure multiple bids and leverage regional purchasing volume to optimize Material Purchasing
- Manage Subcontractors across the region and ensure all subcontractor invoices are reviewed and approved prior to payment
- Review Budget vs. Actual Job Costing Details by site and review findings with local managers for improvement opportunities
- Maximize Labor Production and Efficiency across sites, including sharing labor between sites as needed, while maintaining quality standards
- Maintain Consistent Quality Control Standards Across All Sites
- Ensure Customer Satisfaction across the region and respond to Customer Satisfaction Survey feedback improvement opportunities
- Reduce Turnover and Increase Retention across all sites
- Maintain an Active Recruiting Pipeline for Key Roles
- Training
- Input and Development of Training Requirements for All Sites
- Assess skillsets and build individual development and coaching plans for local managers and key team members
- Commitment to Training at all levels, including development of local managers and future leaders
- Support NICET and state licensing advancement across the region
- Operations: Labor/Productivity, Materials Purchasing, Job Financials
- Teamwork: maintain positive interactions with local managers and teams, every site in the region, peers in other regions, Accounting, Service, etc.
Knowledge:
- Must have knowledge of fire alarm systems
- Knowledge of special hazards/suppression systems
- Understand fire protection installation requirements
- Ability to properly read fire protection blueprints
- Knowledgeable with NFPA 72, NFPA 70, NFPA 101, IBC/IFC, and all other applicable codes
- State fire alarm license required (hold or obtain); additional state licenses desirable
- NICET Level III or IV certification in fire alarm and/or special hazards preferred
- OSHA 30 required, or obtained within 6 months of hire
- Manufacturer factory training preferred
- Strong knowledge of P&L management, WIP, and job cost analysis across multiple locations required
- Experience or knowledge of Procore, Sage Intacct, and Power BI a plus
- Must possess intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and advanced skills in Excel
- Minimum education of High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Valid driver's license and acceptable MVR required
Work Experience:
- 10 years of experience in installation and/or inspection of fire alarm systems
- 5+ years of experience in Business Management, including oversight of multiple sites or locations
- 3+ years of experience leading managers or supervisors across multiple locations
- 2 or more years of experience in direct profit and loss responsibility and process management
- 5+ years of experience in fire alarm or construction sales, preferred
- Experience with fire alarm and special hazards/suppression systems, preferred

- Work is performed in both office and active jobsite environments
- Must be able to climb ladders and work from lifts and elevated platforms

- Exposure to weather, noise, dust, and changing site conditions
- Must wear required PPE and follow all jobsite safety requirements
