Location
This position will be primarily based out of our Mesa I facility located at 4712 South Ellsworth Road, Mesa, AZ 85212. Arizona has multiple production facilities in both East Mesa and South Phoenix supported by this role. Periodic to Frequent travel is expected between these facilities and non-SRC sites.
Schedule (Current as of posting, but is subject to change pending business needs)
On-site; Full-time; Monday-Friday, 08:00AM-05:00PM, 8.00 hours shift with one-hour lunch.
Pending customer base, scheduled hours may vary slightly.
Work from home schedules are not currently supported to best align with company values and on-site support.
Position Description
The Sales Application Engineer is a high-visibility engineering position within Super Radiator Coils that has direct impact on growing the business and developing new designs. This unique position combines technical and commercial responsibilities into one role. The position requires engineering knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering, particularly in the thermal and fluid sciences.
This role interfaces with customers, gathers and applies the requirements of relevant design specifications, performs engineering analysis, generates proposals, wins contracts, then interfaces with designers and key manufacturing personnel to see the order through completion in our in-house fabrication facilities. The Sales Application Engineer is empowered to make decisions and expected to navigate the trade-offs in design, performance, and cost implications. There is a steady variety of projects that keeps the work interesting and provides new opportunities to learn and solve problems. This roles reports directly to our Sales & Engineering Manager for the Arizona based operations.
Essential Responsibilities

- Serve as the single point of contact for existing and new customers by providing them with designs, quotations, and on-going service support.
- Develop prospective accounts by understanding the prospect's needs, proposing designs, and service offerings.
- Own the design from concept through delivery; provide specifications to SolidWorks designers, advise manufacturing, and coordinate with materials requirements as necessary.
- Be an active participant in our Sales & Engineering team that supports fluctuations in workload and contributes to each other's professional development.
- Travel expectations are 6-8 times per year, historically 1-3 days per trip.
- Work in a team environment, primarily including daily interactions with fellow Engineers, CAD Designers, Production, and Materials personnel.
- These interactions will lead to efficiencies in the design and manufacturing process, meeting customer expectations, and deepening our cultural and value alignment.
- Perform assigned job tasks which meet or exceed company expectations.
- If further training in needed, must show clear evidence of improvement on specific duty.
- Read and understand drawings, blueprints, and other task related documents.
- Ready to work with production team members on the floor.
- Adhere to all safety policies and rules while raising any concerns to direct manager or EHS team.
- Must be able to work in small group settings or individually as needed and maintain professional conduct while working with others.
- Personal disagreement can occur; we must do our part in maintaining a professional level of respect to the best of our ability.
Qualifications
THIS IS AN INDUSTRIAL MANUFACTURING ENVIRONMENT WHICH REQUIRES PHYSCIAL CAPABILITIES.
Required
- High School diploma/equivalent.
- Bachelor's Degree or of higher standing in Mechanical Engineering or related.
- 1-3 years prior professional work experience in HVAC, refrigeration, or similar industry based-role.
- Exceptional clear and effective communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Inclusive of verbal, written, and typed.
- Capable and comfortable handling multiple priorities
- Balancing urgent tasks with progress on important tasks.
- Self-directed and comfortable in fast-paced environment.
- Passionate about engineering, sales, relationships, and our products.
- Comprehensive understanding in both standard and metric, dimensional and fractional measurements.
- Understanding of core Microsoft programs.
- Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
- While on production floor:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, extend, reach, push, pull, grasp, and twist for long periods of time throughout shift, many positions are standing or walking majority of shift.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or push or pull up to 25lbs and occasionally lift and/or push or pull up to 50lbs without assistance.
- Fundamental understanding of English language and able to show evidence can read at base comprehension level.
- Though we strive to bridge language gaps, most paperwork and programs are in English.
- Reading is crucial as someone is not always readily available to provide translations.
- Stable and reliable attendance.
- A pattern of Late Ins, Early Outs, Unexcused Call Outs, etc. is not acceptable.
- Strong positive work ethic.
- Have a good history of safe work practices, focus on quality, and steady efficiency.
- Personal errors in your specific department can happen, what is important is if you were able to learn from an error and move forward in a positive manner.
- Must pass medical pre-screen with physical and background check.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- We do not currently support individuals that require paid visa programs.
Preferred
- History of success working in a small to mid-size company where gap-filling is routine.
- Proven project management skills.
- Experience with heat exchangers.
