Mission Contribution:
Helps with the flow of goods through the Warehouse and Salvage departments to minimize waste and maximize profits.
Function:
To oversee the day-to-day operations of the Salvage and warehouse area by maintaining a clean, productive and safe work area.
Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without a reasonable accommodation).
- Ensure the warehouse facility and yard are clean, neat, organized, safe, and maintained to a high professional standard.
- Ensures hiring, training, development, supervision, and evaluation of team members within the framework of Goodwill Gulf Coast policies and procedures and job descriptions.
- Creates schedules and / or maintains labor and payroll in accordance with Goodwill Gulf Coast policies and procedures.
- Initiates, completes and submits personnel, new hire and payroll records, accurately, in a timely manner.
- Ensure production of salvage bales meets established quantity and quality standards.
- Ensure collection of salvage items, including but not limited to shoes, hats, belts, purses, books, toys, and pots and pans.
- Ensure rolling stock in the warehouse is turned over within 24–48 hours.
- Ensure collection of recycling items, including but not limited to computer components, cardboard, paper, plastic, and televisions.
- Ensure no salvage, recycling, or hazardous materials are disposed of improperly.
- Ensure timely and proper loading of vendor trucks.
- Ensure Waste Management, Smash My Trash, and metal roll-off pickups are scheduled and completed weekly.
- Ensure children’s free books are transferred in and out of the Community Center daily to maintain availability.
- Ensure all forklifts receive quarterly preventive maintenance and remain safe and operational.
- Keep all balers maintained and operational and maintain an up-to-date maintenance log.
- Ensure all Gaylords are properly labeled, organized, and stored in their assigned areas.
- Regularly inspect for unstable or fallen pallets and correct safety concerns immediately.
- Monitor forklift operators to ensure safe practices and proper equipment use.
- Work with the donation center to prevent overflow and maintain a steady flow of incoming donations.
- Communicate with the Director of Transportation to ensure donations are delivered to their assigned stores.
- Review baler and forklift assignment sheets daily and ensure minimum performance expectations are met.
- Verify daily bale and salvage counts are accurate and properly recorded.
- Responsible for ordering and maintaining warehouse supplies.
- Observe all safety procedures and perso
- nnel policies.
- Minimizes accidents and Workers Compensation claims by making sure that safety and accident reporting standards are followed and preventive measures are taken.
- Regular attendance is required as outlined in Goodwill’s attendance policy.
- Attends internal and external training as assigned by Director, AVP, or VP.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
