We are looking for an Electrical Engineer for our New Product Development and Sustaining initiatives! While reporting to the Engineering Manager-Portables, the successful incumbent will have the opportunity to optimize efficiency of NPD efforts while collaborating with our engineers in resolving internal and external customer design concerns with our products. This role will contribute to strengthening our commitment to our customer and our customer’s loyalty to MSA. If this sounds like an exciting opportunity, we want to hear from you!


Specific responsibilities include:

• Investigate and provide engineering evaluations for customer inquiries.
• Provide engineering production support to manufacturing operations.
• Plan, prioritize, and complete engineering investigations and design changes on existing products.
• Investigate and provide data-backed decisions on non-conforming components.
• Provide concise technical reports to support investigations and technical judgments.
• Participate in regularly scheduled sustaining priority meetings, manufacturing operations meetings and provide necessary technical support.
• Develop & execute test plans to evaluate products/components.
• Evaluate and implement needed product changes within agency requirements.
• Interpret industry standards.
• Coordinate agency submittals including test data, samples, and required documentation.
• Participate in design reviews for new products.
• Participate in cost reduction initiatives.


Special knowledge, skills and ability requirements:

  • Design experience with low
    power electronics for agency compliance for hazardous environments.
  • Working knowledge of statistics.
  • Solid verbal and written communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to provide a customer centric approach to assignments.
  • Up to 10% domestic/international travel.

Education and experience requirements:

B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.

This position is available at two different career levels based upon experience, education, etc.:
o Level one (Staff Engineer II): 2 years relevant experience

o Level two (Staff Engineer III): 3 years relevant experience

o MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of experience

o PhD may be substituted for up to 4 years of experience
