As an academic operations manager, you will work closely with the executive director, registrar, and academic support team members to guide and assist with assigned academic departments, ensuring they align with the university's mission, vision, strategic plan, and priorities. You will prepare research and notes for high-profile events; provide quality assurance and editorial support for university reports; and assist throughout the recruitment process by participating in interviews and advising management on candidate suitability. Additionally, you will help create and update job descriptions and collaborate with compensation on the performance management process. You will also prepare and edit content for workshops and presentations, particularly for faculty development focused on improving instructional quality, teaching best practices, and facilitating instructional engagement.

In this role, you will establish quality control mechanisms to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of daily operations within your assigned departments, particularly regarding travel, event support requests, and school-based project management. You will oversee the use of university buildings and resources, managing them to highlight the best student work in pin-up areas, on monitors, and in classrooms throughout the year. Your responsibilities include operations analysis, identification of areas for improvement, and the development of proposals for enhancements or reports for the executive director, registrar services, and academic support. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with university administrative policies and procedures and align with the university's strategic plan and priorities for school-based initiatives.

In this role, you will attend departmental, school, and other academic operational meetings as required. You will also participate in SCAD Days, commencement ceremonies, and various university events. Additionally, you will maintain a consistent and visible presence in assigned buildings, use personal observations to identify and resolve issues, and escalate complex problems to the executive director, registrar services, and academic support with recommended solutions.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong planning, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. They are an analytical person who pays close attention to detail and accuracy. Additionally, the candidate can multitask and meet deadlines.

Minimum qualifications:

  • B.A. degree
  • At least three years of relevant professional experience
  • Expertise in relevant computer applications and databases

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Acceptance as a SCAD-authorized driver

Travel required:

  • Less than 10%

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
