Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the accounts payable process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in various accounting software. The Accounts Payable Specialist will play a crucial role in maintaining financial integrity and supporting the overall financial operations of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments while adhering to company policies.
- Perform account reconciliations, including general ledger reconciliation and journal entries.
- Maintain accurate records of accounts payable transactions and vendor information.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies and answer inquiries related to accounts payable.
- Assist in month-end closing activities, including accruals and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX regulations in all accounts payable activities.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Workday for data entry and transaction processing.
- Support payroll management tasks as needed, including data entry related to employee expenses.
- Participate in audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including double entry bookkeeping and financial concepts.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Paychex, ADP, or PeopleSoft.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems and payroll management tools like Kronos or UltiPro is a plus.
- Experience in public accounting or corporate accounting preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate account reconciliation.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines.
- Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy (10 key typing).
- Knowledge of tax regulations and non-profit accounting is advantageous.
