About Montgomery Place: The premiere senior living community overlooking Lake Michigan and the Museum of Science and Industry, Montgomery Place serves as the cultural center of East Hyde Park. Offering Independent Living, Assisted Living, as well as a 40-bed Skilled Nursing Unit providing Long-term Care and Short-term, sub-acute rehab services.

About the Position: The Activity Aide is responsible for providing daily activity programs as planned, scheduled, and assigned by Activity Director; Assists with other duties as assigned by Administrator

** Schedule may include evening work hours and will require working some weekends

Pay range: Starting rate of $17.50 per hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Overall responsibilities

  • Develops and coordinates planned activity programs on a given floor or area as assigned
  • Responsible for bedside activities and follow up for residents unable to attend regularly scheduled activities
  • Assist with maintenance, storage and use of Activity Department supplies
  • Prepare materials and supplies needed for daily programs - Inform Activity Director of any supplies required for upcoming programs
  • Welcome and orient new residents who are assigned to his/her area and write an initial note of observation and resident response
  • Evaluate residents, as assigned, for purposes of planning and implementing a meaningful activity program
  • Consider resident background, interests, physical and emotional needs and limitations
  • Motivate residents to participate in planned activities, using appropriate motivational techniques
  • Maintain the following records: residents daily participation in activities; resident progress, monthly, or more often as needed; Activity Planning Sheets to assist in scheduling and meeting resident needs
  • Assist orientation, training, and supervision of volunteers as assigned
  • Provide daily activities as scheduled and in a timely manner
  • Attend and participate in Care Plan Conferences, in-service training programs, and departmental meetings as directed
  • Maintain equipment, and supplies in good order and clean - Notify Activity Director when repairs are needed
  • Update Reality Orientation (RO) boards daily and post menus weekly
  • Under the supervision of the Activity Director, prepares monthly activity calendar by the first of each month
  • Decorate and update the bulletin board and RO board by the first of each month.
  • Assist with department housekeeping duties, including cleaning Activity Room, tidying the area after events, properly putting away supplies at the end of the day, and maintaining activity carts

  • Communicate effectively with all members of the staff, residents and business partners
  • Provide feedback to others for continuous quality improvement of the entire organization

  • Escalate issues when there is appearance that business standards of quality are not present
  • Comply with all rules and regulations of the organization, including HIPAA and safety
  • Perform other duties as assigned
