Days/Hours: Monday - Friday from 2:00-6:00pm
Pay Rate: $13.00 starting pay rate and a FREE family membership
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise the children, classroom, and all activities. Create a safe environment where all individuals feel welcomed and respected.
- Participate in planning and implementing program activities within the established YMCA guidelines.
- Nurture children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging. Work with supervisors and peers to develop the whole child.
- Make ongoing observations and evaluations of each child. Report observations to supervisor.
- Build effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; help them connect with each other and the YMCA. Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
- Set up, organize, and put away needed class equipment. Familiar with proper usage of equipment. Report damaged equipment.
- Follow all YMCA and state policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Maintains all appropriate forms and documentation in accordance with these policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma and at least 18 years of age; OR enrolled in the second year of or have completed a two-year career-technical program in child development or be a high school senior and also enrolled in a college credit program in child development.
- Certifications: Have ormust be able to complete Y provided CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and Basic First Aid certification classes.
- Previous experience working with children preferred.
- Ability to organize and implement age-appropriate program activities.
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Medium work. Exerting 50 pounds of force rarely, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
- Frequently subjected to environmental conditions- heat and humidity both inside and outside. May occur mostly outside.
- Ability to: stand, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and crouching frequently throughout the work shift; squatting, jumping, running, balancing, lifting and repetitive motion may be needed depending on group exercise style/ type; walk throughout the facility frequently and may need to climb stairs occasionally; have visual acuity to determine safety, security and assessment of participant’s movements; receive detailed information through sound as well as express through spoken word.
