Overview:
The San Juan County Office of Utah State University Extension is seeking a qualified individual to coordinate the 4-H after-school program at Blanding Elementary. This position will require management and oversight of the daily operations of the after-school program, educators, and approximately 60 elementary-aged participants. You will assist in providing enriching after-school clubs for students at Blanding Elementary. This position is up to 29 hours a week and you must be available Monday-Thursday 3:00 pm-6:00 pm to coordinate the after-school program. Additional work time will be contributed to staff training, parent engagement nights, grant reporting and evaluations, and regular meetings with Extension faculty and staff.

This position is eligible for hybrid work within the state of Utah.
Responsibilities:
  • Supervise after-school staff and volunteers
  • Collaborate with the school and work with certified/licensed teachers to ensure that out-of-school time activities coordinate with the academic needs of students and support 4-H skill development.
  • Communicate regularly with the USU Extension Faculty and other afterschool staff as to the progress and needs of the program.
  • Develop and implement daily schedules and activities that support the educational and recreational needs of participants.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, licensing requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and provide support to staff and volunteers.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.
  • Constructively address behavioral issues and conflicts.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, guardians, and school staff regarding program-related matters.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with families about program updates, student progress, and upcoming events.
  • Collaborate with school administrators and community partners to enhance program offerings and address student needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, incident reports, and program evaluations.
  • Manage program budgets, including tracking expenses and making recommendations for resource allocation.
  • Support the civil rights mandate of Utah State University Extension.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years' professional experience.
  • High degree of self-motivation
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written skills
  • Experience in recruiting, supervising, and working with other adults
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills- Word, Excel and Internet
  • Experience working and/or desire to work with youth and their families
  • Access to reliable transportation to and from work site
  • Must be available for all hours of program operation
  • Successful completion of a background check
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree
  • Experience with after-school programs
  • Management and leadership experience
  • Evidence of teamwork capabilities
  • Experience navigating grant finances and expectations
  • Skills in social media and other forms of marketing
  • 4-H experience

Advertised Salary: $`18 Per Hour ADA:
The environment and physical requirements may change depending on the specific function of the work each department performs. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors, in an office space, event space, or public space are protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents may nearly continuously sit and often use repetitive hand motion (such as typing).

Outdoors, incumbents may not be protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. Additionally, indoor or outdoor work environments may include being confined or in narrow spaces for periods of time. The incumbent may also be exposed to loud noises or vibrations from equipment, and conditions that may affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation. Bending, crawling, and crouching may be required. Incumbents may be required to lift, push, and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds and be required to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.
