We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an Assistant in a special needs school. This role is essential in providing support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive the attention and assistance necessary for their academic and personal growth. Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Provide one-on-one support to students during classroom activities, ensuring they understand the material and stay engaged.
- Help manage classroom behavior by implementing positive reinforcement strategies.
- Support students during transitions between activities and locations within the school.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to create a supportive learning environment.
- Assist with the preparation of instructional materials and classroom resources.
- Monitor student progress and communicate any concerns to the teaching staff.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to special education.
Skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
- Patience and empathy when working with students who have varying abilities and challenges.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently within a busy school environment.
- Experience or training in special education or related fields is a plus but not required.
- Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to collaborate with educators and support staff.
- Basic knowledge of behavioral management techniques is beneficial.

Pay: $24.62 - $29.65 per hour
