The City of Thibodaux is accepting online applications for the position of Assistant Council Administrator. Online applications will be accepted until the deadline date of August 20, 2025 at 12:00 (noon). The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Thibodaux City Council and the Council Administrator. This is accomplished by resolving citizen problems with delivery of services; receiving and recording all complaints; contacting the providers of citizen services; reporting to citizens and council members; attending all City Council Meetings and indexing records; publishing minutes from the meetings; composing correspondence; maintain all files and scheduling; and coordinating certain functions as assigned. Other duties include assuming basic duties of the City Council Office when the Administrator is out.
Formal Education: Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with a two-year associate's degree, diploma or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advance study or training.
Selective Certification: The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications, though these are not mandatory requirement:
- Degree in Government or Public Administration, Business or Political Science is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws affecting municipal operations is preferred but not required.
- Drafting ordinances, resolutions and Council Agendas is preferred but not required.
- Experience with acting as liaison between the City Council and the Executive Branch (Mayor and Administration) is preferred but is not required.
- Publishing Public bin notices and evaluating proposals is preferred but not required.
Experience: Over one year up to and including three years.
Requirement: The Candidate who is selected for this position will be required to have a valid Louisiana driver's license and must enroll in program to receive their Louisiana Certified Municipal Deputy Clerk Certification within the first two years of employment to earn their certification upon completion.
