JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Assistant Director for Faculty Engagement will develop and maintain a center of excellence for the recruitment, onboarding, and integration of high-level academic and administrative leaders, including department chairs and senior associate deans. This position plays a critical role in the recruitment of exceptional leaders to the College of Medicine and ensuring the successful transition and long-term success of newly appointed leaders.

The Assistant Director will serve as a key partner to the Dean’s Office, department administrators, and search committees in developing best practices for executive searches and onboarding. This role will work closely with the Chief of Staff to manage search committee processes to ensure consistency and clear expectations. Additionally, the position will provide support for the recruitment and professional development of administrative support professionals aligned with new executive hires to support the retention and success of both the support staff and newly recruited leaders.

About This Role:

Executive Search Strategy and Coordination

  • Design, implement, and manage comprehensive search processes for executive-level positions including department chairs, senior associate deans, and other senior leadership roles.
  • Partner with search committee chairs and executive sponsors to ensure timely search processes that align with institutional goals and best practices.
  • Develop recruitment timelines, communications, and engagement strategies to attract top-tier candidates nationally and internationally.
  • Serve as a liaison between the College and executive search firms, ensuring alignment of firm activities with UF’s strategic priorities.

Onboarding and Transition Management

  • Create and implement structured onboarding programs for newly appointed executives that include institutional orientation, strategic planning sessions, stakeholder introductions, and performance goal setting.
  • Coordinate relocation logistics and transitional support in partnership with university resources and local community organizations.
  • Facilitate peer mentoring and integration opportunities to support new leaders in their first year.
  • Facilitate or support onboarding programming, including speaking or presenting to new faculty and executive leaders as part of their integration into the college.

Administrative Support Alignment

  • Collaborate with department leadership to assess administrative support needs for newly hired executives.
  • Lead efforts to recruit, onboard, and professionally develop executive administrative assistants, ensuring alignment with leadership expectations and college-wide standards.
  • Establish training and mentorship programs to enhance administrative assistant effectiveness and career development.

Talent Development and Process Improvement

  • Evaluate and refine executive recruitment and onboarding practices to improve candidate and stakeholder experiences.
  • Stay informed on national trends in executive recruitment and leadership development within academic medicine.
  • Develop metrics and feedback tools to assess the success of recruitment and onboarding efforts, with continuous improvement in mind.

EXPECTED SALARY:

$105,000 annually; commensurate with education and experience.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelors degree and four years of relevant experience.



PREFERRED:
  • Master’s degree in human resources, organizational leadership, higher education administration, or related discipline.
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in recruitment, executive search coordination, or talent acquisition, including at least two years supporting senior or executive-level hires.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, high-stakes recruitment processes with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Experience coordinating complex event logistics in a professional setting.
  • Strong facilitation and public speaking skills, including experience delivering onboarding or orientation sessions.
  • Experience working in an academic medical center or higher education environment.
  • Familiarity with faculty affairs, academic governance, and leadership structures in medical education.
  • Knowledge of executive onboarding and leadership development best practices.
