Assistant Millwork Estimator Job Overview
We are a custom cabinetry and millwork provider specializing in high end commercial millwork seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Millwork Estimator.
This is a great opportunity to learn valuable skills in a very strong segment of the building trades with outstanding growth potential for a person with aptitude and strong work ethic.
Candidates must have proven ability to read construction blueprints and assist with material takeoffs for the preparation of millwork and cabinetry estimates. Duties will also include some general office work, ie. answering the phone and assisting the general manager and production manager with material inventory and ordering.
Assistant Millwork Estimator Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for millwork projects.
- Utilize software tools such as Excel, Autocad, Adobe Acrobat.
- Help with other office related duties such as material ordering and inventory.
- Make site visits to assist with collecting information and field measurements.
- Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to foster positive working relationships.
- Maintain detailed records of estimates, pricing, and vendor information.
- Answer the office phone and help with customer support.
Assistant Millwork Estimator Qualifications
Ability to read construction documents and blueprints is essential to this position. The position will require the applicant to determine the scope of work from drawings and construction documents, perform accurate material takeoffs, obtain price quotes from material vendors and subcontractors, and assist in writing bids and proposals for commercial and residential millwork projects. The position requires effective communication with clients and vendors to verify design intent and bid requirements and with our estimating, production, and installation team in a busy, dynamic, small office environment.
Education or past experience with drafting, autocad, interior design, millwork/cabinetry sales, and construction estimating will all be considered as qualifications for this position, with the expectation that training will be provided on the job.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
