Job Summary: Perform duties required to process and sort soiled linen so that it may be washed. Duties include but are not limited to operating the cart dumper, removing bags of soiled linen from carts, opening the bags, placing the contents of the bag on the sort conveyor, sorting soiled linens and changing carts out when they become full, and cleaning carts using disinfectants or the cart washer. Does other related work as required.
Major Duties and Responsibilities (may include, but not limited to the following):
- Operating the cart dumper to load, lift, and unload carts
- Removing bags of soiled linen from carts, opening the bags, and placing contents on the bag on to the sorting conveyor
- Disinfect carts using chemicals or the cart washer in accordance with VHL policies and procedures
- Sort soiled healthcare textiles in accordance with VHL policies and procedures
- Move laundry carts that have been filled with sorted goods to wash area and replace with an empty cart if needed

- Performs other duties as directed by management
Education:
Previous relevant experience in a laundry or production environment is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of safe work practices
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of assigned duties;
- Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used the course of sorting soiled healthcare textiles
- Must follow all HLAC guidelines
Essential Job Functions:
- Must be able to stand for the entire shift which is a minimum of 8 hours per day
- Between 95-98% of this time may be spent stooping, climbing, walking, bending, pushing, and/or pulling
- Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 50 pounds;
- Must be capable of regular, full-time attendance
- Must be capable of rotating shifts and working on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays as needed
