We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Beef Herdsman to join our livestock operation. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience working with beef cattle and operating farm machinery. The successful candidate will assist in the daily care, management, and welfare of the Angus cattle, as well as general farm operations and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in daily feeding, health checks, and general care of the beef herd
- Monitor animal health and behavior; assist with administering medications and vaccinations
- Assist with calving, weaning, tagging, and other livestock handling tasks
- Maintain clean and safe housing environments for animals
- Operate and maintain tractors, loaders, feed wagons, and other farm machinery
- Maintain fences, water systems, and pasture infrastructure
- Keep accurate records related to livestock health and breeding
- Assist with seasonal tasks such as crop harvest, haymaking and silage
- Follow biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety protocols at all times
Qualifications:
- Proven experience working with beef cattle (required)
- Experience operating and maintaining agricultural machinery (required)
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to lift heavy items and work in all weather conditions
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekends and holidays
- Valid driver's license; CDL or equipment operation certification a plus
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of breeding, nutrition, and herd health management
- Welding, fencing, or mechanical repair experience
- Familiarity with modern herd management software or record-keeping systems
