Moran Towing Corporation (www.morantug.com) has an exciting opportunity available as a Benefits Specialist in our Jacksonville, FL office. This is a hybrid role that will require you to work in the office at least 3 days per week. This full-time, exempt position reports to the Benefits Manager.
Position Summary:
The Benefits Specialist will provide crucial support in the administration, communication, analysis, and compliance of our employee benefits programs. Reporting to the Benefits Manager, this role plays a vital part in the daily operations of our benefits function, focusing on ensuring the accuracy of benefits related transactions, maintaining records, supporting vendor interactions, assisting with data analytics and reporting, assisting employees with inquiries, and supporting overall benefits administration and compliance efforts.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED, TO:
- Administer employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability (STD/LTD), retirement plans, and leaves of absence.
- Serve as a primary contact for benefits inquiries and issues from employees, providing timely and accurate resolution.
- Process and oversee benefits transactions including enrollments.
- Support the annual open enrollment process, including system configuration input, communication development, data validation, and employee support.
- Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports on benefits activities, costs, and trends.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within benefits administration and suggest solutions.
- Assist with ensuring all benefit programs and processes comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Gather data, prepare documentation, and participate in the completion of required compliance filings (e.g., Form 5500s, ACA reporting), audits, and non-discrimination testing.
- Assist in maintaining plan documents, Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs), and required employee notices, ensuring they are up-to-date and distributed appropriately.
- Stay current on benefits legislation and trends.
- Liaise with benefits vendors and brokers to resolve administrative and service issues.
- Develop and help deliver clear and engaging benefits communication materials and presentations for employees.
- Administer and track leave of absence cases (FMLA, WA PFML, ADA, etc.), ensuring compliance with regulations and company policy.
- Communicate effectively with employees, managers, and vendors regarding leave status and requirements.
- Support COBRA administration through our third-party administrator(s).
- Partner with the HRIS team to ensure accurate benefits data within the HR system and seamless data feeds to vendors.
- Audit benefits data regularly to ensure accuracy and integrity.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), Certified Benefits Professional (CBP), SHRM-CP/SCP, or PHR/SPHR, preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of direct experience in employee benefits administration.
- Proven experience handling complex benefits issues and providing excellent employee support.
- In-depth knowledge of various benefit plan types and applicable regulations.
- Excellent communication (written, verbal, presentation) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex benefits information clearly.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency with HRIS/Benefits Administration systems (UKG and/or ADP Workforce Now) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.

Pay Transparency
Moran Towing Corporation offers generous benefits, opportunities for professional growth, and competitive salaries based on geographic location. Our target pay range for the Benefits Specialist position is $70,000 -$85,000 per year. This pay range represents Moran's commitment to pay transparency and is a reasonable estimate of possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. The final salary for this role will be determined based on careful consideration of a variety of factors, such as the candidate’s exact location, experience, and expertise related to the qualifications.
