Since our founding in 2007, BLOC Coffee Company has cared about three things - Coffee, Community, and Change.
Our shop was formed out of a need. BLOC Ministries is an inner city ministry that wanted to create a place for people to gather. They wanted to have a place for people to exist in community- a place that would foster creativity and camaraderie. Thus we were born. 12 years later, we're still here - and constantly working on ways to serve our community better.
Position Summary:
The BLOC Coffee Company is part of BLOC Ministries and has a location in Metzcor. We are seeking a motivated, customer-focused Coffee Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our coffee shop. The ideal candidate will be passionate about coffee, hospitality, and leading a team to provide an outstanding customer experience. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage both people and processes efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership:
Manage staff and adult participant workers
Create staff schedules and ensure proper shift coverage
Foster a positive and productive work environment
Setting a team example by being involved in daily tasks such as prepping food, making drinks, cleaning
dishes, operating POS system
- Customer Service:
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service
Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback professionally
- Operations Management:
Oversee daily shop operations including opening and closing procedures
Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations
- Financial Management:
Manage cash flow, daily sales reconciliation, and bank deposits
Assist with budgeting and cost control
Analyze sales reports and implement strategies to improve profitability
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar management role in food and beverage, preferably in a coffee shop or café
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Strong understanding of coffee preparation, brewing methods, and café equipment (preferred)
- Basic understanding of POS systems and Google Workspace
- Food Protection Manager or be willing to obtain
